Main Floor

In keeping with the season our first display is “Happy Holidays”.  It is filled with books for cooking, celebrating, decorating and gift giving during this holiday season. There’s enough information to ensure that we will enjoy ourselves this December.  The display also includes a couple of Christmas themed mysteries.

Our second display, “Winter is Coming”, also has a timely theme.  If winter or snow is in the title, then it’s here. This display is an eclectic collection of both fiction and nonfiction books.  Try browsing the selections for a little different but interesting read.

The mini displays feature Alyson Richmond’s books on one side and on the other side the Irish writer, Williams Trevor who died on November 20, 2016. The Readers’ Services Staff will have a Year-End Celebration featuring author Alyson Richman, who will discuss her novels and the writer’s life. The program will be on Tuesday, December 20, 2016.

Third Floor

The health librarian’s display is “Happiness for the Holidays”. It has books on how to achieve happiness and bring joy into your life.  There are also handouts about health and happiness.

On December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat and so begins the United States’ struggle for Civil Rights.  Civil Rights movement is a very important part of our American story.  Our second display covers this period of history and will provide the reader with a greater understanding of this historical struggle for freedom.

We also have the “Best Books of 2016” which is a collection of nonfiction books written in 2016.  It’s located at the beginning of the nonfiction section.

Hope that you find a great read on one our displays.

Happy Holidays to all our wonderful Syosset Public Library patrons!
