May 25 through May 31 is National Hurricane Preparedness Week. With less than a month until the start of the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season on June 1, now is the time to prepare. To kick-start the preparedness effort, the National Hurricane Center, FEMA and other organizations have come together to promote the National Hurricane Preparedness Week.
Each day of National Hurricane Preparedness Week there is a different educational theme: Hurricane Basics, Storm Surge, Wind, Inland Flooding, Forecast Process, Get a Plan and After the Storm. The schedule is on the website noted above.
So, let’s be safe and informed this summer about the dangers of hurricanes and what we can do to minimize their impact.
