Robert B. Parker

According to his publisher Robert B. Parker the prolific author of the Spencer series has passed away.

Whether you enjoyed the crime novels or the made for TV movies featuring Tom Selleck you always got the sense that he and his character shared a tough guy shell and a soft heart. Here’s another author that will be missed.

  1. Robert B. Parker was a prolific writer, not only writing the Spenser series, but also the Jesse Stone and Sunny Randall mysteries. He also wrote Westerns and mysteries for Young Adults.

His Spenser for Hire TV series was wonderful. I used to watch it all the time. Robert Urich was a great Spenser and Avery Brooks was the perfect Hawk.

According to the Christian Science Monitor “He wrote a PhD thesis on detective fiction and worked as a college professor before he discovered his true vocation as a novelist.”

While I thought his earlier works were better than his latter, it is indisputable that he was a master mystery writer, as evidenced by his Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. He will definitely be missed.
